About This Record
What Was Written Down
Wikipedia, citing Rasmussen's 1977 article, records Gundwane (Khondwane, also Mkhaliphi) Ndiweni as brother of Mzilikazi's mother Cikose Ndiweni, leader of the advance party that reached the Bulawayo area ahead of the king and installed the young Nkulumane, and either killed in battle or executed after the king arrived; his son Monyebe was executed in 1862. Nyathi's column independently names the Khondwane Ndiweni group that settled first along the Insiza, Ncema and Mzingwane. Ndlovu-Gatsheni records Thunzi Ndiweni among prominent men eliminated in the 1870-72 succession crisis. The Ndiweni chieftaincy at Ntabazinduna continues (Khayisa, then Nhlanhlayamangwe Felix Ndiweni). Recorded from the sources named on this entry; the wording here is Sibaya's own.

If Your Family Holds More Of This
A family saying its own izibongo / izithakazelo knows them better than any directory does. If yours has more than what is on this page, it belongs here.
