About This Record

What Was Written Down

Stayt records that Popi Rambuda, a brother of the Tshivhase chief Mukesi, broke away and built his seat at Dzimauli; his son Vele's sons Bele and Tshikose fought over the succession, Bele's son Khaku becoming independent chief of Madala. Tshikose died in 1924 and Khaku in 1923, both succeeded by minors. Wikipedia lists Rambuda and the Ramavhulela of Dzimauli among the Venda's constituent groups. Recorded from the sources named on this entry; the wording here is Sibaya's own.
