What Was Written Down

Originally of northern Natal south of Magudu, defeated by the Ndwandwe in the early nineteenth century at about the time the Ngwane, Matiwane and Mthethwa lost their autonomy (Bonner as reported). Mgcoyisa Khumalo fled Zulu attack into southern Eswatini in Mswati II's time and hosted Ndwandwe refugees. Sisile Khumalo (LaMgangeni), mother of Ludvonga, chose Mbandzeni as king and later fled with the royal insignia. Josefa Dlamini notes that some Khumalo at Zikhotheni are in fact Ndwandwe.
