Part of this account was passed down by word of mouth.
The Shiba had a close connection with Sobhuza I's southern capital Hhohho, where two Shiba ancestors, Mkhiza and Fakuza, served as tindvuna; the area they occupy now carries that name. Gobocwane Shiba is said to have given Ludvonga his wives, so the Shiba stand as maternal kin at the very root of the royal genealogy; Hlubi's mother is named LaMkhwanazi or LaShiba. Msila Shiba was a 1983 narrator. Recorded from the sources named on this entry; the wording here is Sibaya's own.
